The real threat is Islam, by Jared Taylor

[Jared Taylor considers various Islamic terrorist attacks, and wonders how many deaths it take before Western “leaders” recognize that the problem is Islam.]

Once again, Islam has struck back at the infidel West. Gunmen dressed in black hoods entered the office building of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo, and murdered most of its staff. They said they were “avenging the prophet” by punishing the people who had drawn mocking cartoons of Mohammed.1

Francois Hollande, Barack Obama, David Cameron, Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, Vladimir Putin, and even the Queen of England have told us how awful this is. They are indignant about this “attack on free speech” and what they call an “assault on democracy,” but not one of them dares say what the real problem is: Islam. Not one dares point out that Islam is incompatible with the West, and that these murders are just one more proof that Muslims should be kept out.

This is hardly the first time Islam has enforced its notions of blasphemy against non-believers. Author Salmon Rushdie hid for years after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took a dislike to his depiction of Mohammed in The Satanic Verses in 1989, and issued a fatwa ordering him killed. Mr. Rushdie survived, but his Japanese translator, Hitoshi Igarashi, was stabbed to death; no culprit was ever found.

In 2004, a Muslim killed Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh because he had shown verses of the Koran written on the bodies of women in his short film, Submission: Part 1.

The next year, a Danish newspaper published a series of cartoons that lampooned Mohammed.2 The editor, Flemming Rose, commissioned the cartoons when he learned that a children’s biography of Mohammed had been published without pictures because Danish illustrators were afraid to depict the prophet. There were riots and demonstrations across the Muslim world.

One of the Danish cartoonists, Kurt Westergaard, had so many death threats that police put him on round-the-clock surveillance, fortified his house, and built a safe room in it.3 A Somali Muslim broke into his house but failed to kill Mr. Westergaard only because the attacker could not break into the safe room.
Protest in London against the Danish cartoons.

In 2011, Charlie Hebdo’s offices were burned to the ground the day it was to release an issue that mocked sharia law.

In 2012, an amateurish short film about the life of Mohammed, The Innocence of Muslims, set off riots and demonstrations all around the world because of its irreverent portrayal of the prophet.4 Fifty people died in the riots and hundreds were injured.

And these are just the attacks prompted by “blasphemy.” Other attacks don’t even need that pretext. Just this year, a Muslim killed four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels.5 Another Muslim killed a soldier outside the Canadian parliament and entered the building, but was shot to death before he could kill anyone else.6 In Sydney, Australia, another Muslim gunman took hostages in a chocolate store and held them for 16 hours before he was shot by a tactical unit.7 Two hostages died.

According to the Heritage Foundation, more than 40 Muslim terrorist attacks have been foiled by police in the United States since the 9/11 attacks.8

And, of course, some attacks succeed. The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing killed three people and injured more than 250 others — carried out, of course, by Muslims. And that was the year Muslims murdered a soldier in London and tried to hack off his head.9

If one were to compile a list of killings carried out in the name of Islam — not just in the West but around the world — there would be no end to it.

How large a mountain of corpses will it take before Western “leaders” tumble to the fact that the problem is Islam?

At least the French are not as deluded as the people of Sydney. After the hostage-taking at the chocolate store, Sydneysiders started a movement of sympathy for Muslims called “I will ride with you”.10 They were worried that people might be rude to Muslims after the incident.

France has the largest population of Muslims in Europe, and for years, there have been Muslim suburbs where the police dare not go. In 2005, the country erupted in spectacular riots after two Arab boys ran from police, hid in an electric power substation, and electrocuted themselves.11 Since then, immigrants — mostly Muslim — celebrate the New Year by burning cars. It was considered a great triumph this year when, in the face of mass mobilization of police, only 940 cars were torched.12

There have already been spontaneous mass demonstrations in more than 150 French cities, as the French express their outrage at this latest Muslim atrocity.13 Marine Le Pen of the National Front has recently been polling as the most popular politician in France, and this incident will only help her. She is not as straightforward as her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, but she leads one of the strongest immigration-control movements in Europe.

Other countries will learn from this incident as well. The PEGIDA movement in Germany against Islam will only grow.14 Slowly, slowly the West is waking up to the mortal threat that is Islamic immigration. Eventually it will take measures to stop it completely.
